About Garage Sheds

More Than a Garage — A Space That Works as Hard as You Do

A custom garage shed gives you far more than somewhere to park the car. It's secure vehicle storage, a workshop, extra living space, and a long-term investment in your property — all rolled into one.

Whether you're replacing an old carport, adding a double bay to a new build, or creating a triple garage with a dedicated workshop area, we design every garage shed to suit your block, your vehicles, and how you actually use the space.

Our garage sheds are built with genuine COLORBOND® steel on engineered concrete slabs, with roller doors, personal access doors, and customisable layouts. Every build is council-approved and certified — we handle the paperwork so you don't have to.

Got Questions?

Garage Shed FAQs

Here are the most common questions homeowners ask about garage sheds. If you need more detail, give us a call or send through an enquiry — we're happy to help.

High Country Sheds team Crows Nest Queensland
What size garage do I need for 2 cars?

A standard double garage is typically 6m wide by 6–7m deep, which comfortably fits two cars with room to open doors. If you want extra space for storage, workbenches, or a small workshop area, we'd recommend going to 7m or 9m wide. We'll measure your block and design the best layout for your needs.

Can I have a mezzanine in my garage shed?

Yes! A mezzanine level is a great way to maximise your garage space. It's perfect for extra storage, a hobby area, or even a home office above the main garage floor. We engineer the structure to support the additional load and can include stairs and lighting.

Do garage sheds need council approval in Queensland?

In most cases, yes — garage sheds over a certain size require building approval from your local council. The good news is that we handle the entire approval process for you, including engineering certification and all paperwork for the Toowoomba Regional Council or Lockyer Valley Council.

Can I add a workshop space to my garage shed?

Absolutely. Many of our clients add a dedicated workshop bay alongside their vehicle storage. We can include power, lighting, insulation, workbench framing, and separate access doors. It's one of the most popular upgrades and adds real value to your property.

What roller door options are available?

We offer manual and automatic roller doors in a range of sizes to suit standard cars, 4WDs, caravans, and boats. Panel lift doors are also available for a premium look. All doors come in COLORBOND® colours to match your shed and can be fitted with remote openers.

How long does a garage shed take to build?

From approval to completion, most garage sheds take 4–8 weeks depending on size, site conditions, and council timeframes. Once the slab is poured, the steel frame and cladding typically go up within 1–2 weeks. We'll give you a clear timeline at the quoting stage.
